"IMITATING JESUS CHRIST"
In the Apostle Paul’s great work of making disciples, he emphasizes the importance of obedience to Christ through imitating Christ. Paul says to the Corinthian Christians, “And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.” And to the Christians in Ephesus he says, “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” And to the Christians in Philippi he said, “Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.”
The Apostle Peter echoes Paul when he says in his letter, “For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.”
The Apostle John taught the same thing. He said, “Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.” In Matthew 28, Christ commissioned us to make disciples. Cross Church is inspired by the Apostle Paul who when mentoring Timothy said, “Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
For three weeks, starting May 7, using a new and innovative format, we will be reviewing the habits of Jesus Christ who teaches us how to live a life as a true follower of Christ.
Don’t miss it!
